1. Introduction
LazyFinance ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application (the "App") handles your information.
2. Data Collection and Usage
We process your personal data differently depending on your subscription tier:
Free Users (On-Device Processing):
For users on the free tier, all AI processing is performed locally on your device using Apple's MLX framework and on-device models. Your voice data and financial entries do not leave your device for analysis.
Pro Users (Cloud Processing):
To provide advanced accuracy, Pro users can use cloud AI processing. In that case, user-provided expense content is sent to our backend and then processed using third-party AI providers via OpenRouter.
- Data transmitted: Typed expense text, audio recordings used for cloud transcription/parsing, and structured context needed to interpret the expense, such as category names, payment method labels, default currency, and default payment method.
- Purpose: To transcribe, categorize, and extract structured expense data such as merchant or item name, amount, currency, date, and payment method.
- Scope: We do not intentionally send your name, email address, or phone number to the AI provider unless you include that information in the text or audio content you submit.
- No Training: We strictly enforce a "No Training" policy with our AI providers. Your data is never used to train public or private models.
- Retention: Data is retained by providers only transiently for abuse monitoring (typically ~30 days) and then deleted.
3. Third-Party Services
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. Their privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Supabase: Used as our backend to authenticate requests and route cloud AI processing.
- OpenRouter: Used for Pro tier cloud AI processing.
- Google Gemini models: Used through OpenRouter for cloud transcription and structured extraction.
- Apple: Payment transactions are handled by Apple via the App Store. We do not have access to your credit card information.
4. Data Security
Your financial entries are stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud (if enabled).
